What type of stories are you collecting?

We are collecting stories that:

• Are God honoring
• Promote the life changing nature of the Scriptures
• Encourage readers to dig deeper into Scripture

How should I write my story?

• Stay on topic. This community focuses on the Bible and the positive impact it has made in your life. Be succinct and clear in your communication by selecting one scripture passage and one event in your life for each post.
• Ponder questions. Although you certainly don’t have to stick to a format, sometimes answering these questions will help focus your story and stimulate your writing:
  • What were you doing before the passage struck you?
  • What passage did you read that changed your perspective?
  • What happened as a result of engaging with that passage?
• Write succinctly. Most Internet users skim content before they read anything thoroughly. Keep your story readable by breaking it into shorter paragraphs, and consider adding brief sub-headings if it gets longer than a page. • Be considerate of other denominational views. Some discussions can be very emotional or controversial so please be considerate when posting comments to another story. The American Bible Society serves all Christian denominations without doctrinal note or comment. Please keep in mind that Scripture in the hearts and minds of God’s people results in a very broad spectrum of interpretations.
• Protect your privacy. Disclose only what you feel comfortable disclosing. Please do not post someone else’s contact information without their permission. This site is open to the public, and anyone can read your story. Except for personal profile pages, your posts will be searchable by search engines.
• Read carefully. If you read another person’s post and it offends you, try reading it again from a different point of view. In online communities, we can’t see and hear the people who post messages and we cannot fully assume that we understand the person’s intent in their post. If you believe a post is genuinely offensive and breaks our rules, please report it immediately to share@americanbible.org.
• Don’t post irrelevant content. The purpose of this blog is to share stories of how God has used his word to change your life. In light of this, please do not post any commercial advertisements, things for sale, fundraising requests, inflammatory material or links to personal or professional Web sites with questionable content.
• Violations? Shareyourstory.org staff members moderate this storyboard. Moderators remove any inappropriate posts/comments. Your account will be deleted if you post inappropriate or unauthorized material.
