Manafest: Encouraging Youth (2:05)
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Christian rapper, Manafest, talks about how he encourages today’s youth to seek Christ.
You know, I always try and tell kids and just try and be so real and, you know, when I’m on stage because you know a lot of people say it, but how do you let kids know that you’re so sincere, that this is really real and it’s really on my heart that it’s actually changed my life, you know? I always try and tell them that, you know, yeah God loves them, but you know you do need to repent from your sins, you know, and let them know that God isn’t trying to keep you away from, you know what I mean, stuff and enjoying your life, but he’s just trying to get stuff to you. I always share that it’s the Devil that comes to kill, steal and destroy, not God.
I always that, you know, if I had kids or if you guys had kids, you’d want to give your kids good gifts. You know, if we’re God’s kids, why wouldn’t he want to give us good things, you know, and want to bless us? ‘Cause sometimes it shows that when kids are younger, they kind of feel going to church, whatever, they’re going to miss out on fun or miss out on certain things, when really God wants them to have fun, it’s just that he’s trying to protect you from all that junk. You know, whether it’s the drinking or premarital sex, and just knowing that the consequences, the sin, you know, for doing the stuff, ‘cause there’s things that happen. So I always just try and talk about different issues and explain why, and not just because the Bible says this but, “Hey, look what happens when you do this. Bad things happen. When you do it God’s way, good things happen.” You know? And that there is two ways you can live your life. You can live it your way and get your results, or you can live it God’s way and get His result, you know?
I’ve lived it both ways and I share some of the stories I’ve gone through and the results I got from doing it my way, and the results from doing it His way, and you know I always like to share, too, that once you become a Christian it doesn’t mean that life’s going to be perfect and you’re not going to have problems, but just that you’re going to have God on your side to get you through those problems, you know?
