KJ-52: Where the name KJ-52 actually comes from a verse where—in John 6:9 it talks about Jesus taking the [unintelligible] and two fishes and he took them and he multiplied it and he fed the masses with it.

And I realized a long time ago I didn’t have a lot to offer but I said Lord the little that I have is for you and I know if I take it and I put it in your hands, take this talent to do something to reach people for you, I know you can multiply it and he did.

And it always reminds me of the fact that he did it and not me. I mean, um, a white dude from Florida doing Christian hip hop. Who ever thought of that one? But it just proves that God did it and he continues to do it.

There was just something about the truth in the Word that made it just superior to me. As I’m reading the Book of Mormon and I’m trying to rectify what’s being spoken in there with history, they’re quoting all these different, you know, “civilizations” that were supposed to be in America that’s no historical documentation whatsoever. And yet I knew in the Bible, the things of, you know, whether you believe that the Bible is true or not, you can’t deny the fact that there really was a Solomon, there really was a David, there really was a historical Jesus, there really was these people. Keep in mind, I’m still in this process of coming to God. So for me at least to know from at least an historical point, there’s truth here. And it made me go, “Okay, okay.” ‘Cause you have to understand, when I came to God it was just me basically going, “I want to give my life to God, I just don’t know, who is that?” And so that process, it wasn’t just this emotional thing of coming to Christ, it was really a researched, studied thing, and I knew that the Word of God stood up so powerfully to criticism, to historical accuracy, to the truth in it. That’s what really began to make God work in my life.

KJ52: Well, the initial thing that actually brought me to Christ was a conversation I had with a family member, who challenged me to find out kind of the Bible for myself. He had given me his Bible to read. I actually read the Book of Revelation, of all chapters, to read. And I remember reading the thing and for the most part not understanding what I was reading. However, I do remember getting to the very end where it talked about him wiping away every tear, and it showed my that there was a happy ending. It basically got me to the point of making me start to think. Through that process of God beginning to work in my life is, the irony was that I didn’t even own a Bible, but God began to work in my heart, and I actually came this close to becoming a Mormon, because I sent off for the Book of Mormon, read it, and said, “You know, I’m going to stick with the Bible,” and put it away. I actually got a Bible a couple months later after I’d given my life to Christ, and in six months had read through it from cover to cover. I was that hungry because I knew that this was God speaking to me. Whereas any prayer was me talking to God, picking up the Word and opening it and just going, “What are you trying to tell me, here? Okay, fine, I get it, I get it,” you know what I mean? And that early time of just staying in the Word, reading the Word, understanding the Word, memorizing the Word, still is what I do to this day. It keeps me focused.
