DREW CLINE: The very first thing that pops in my mind is just how God brought me back from—and I believe I was saved—um, came to know the Lord at an early age, like nine but because of that, um, duality I learned about it in my church or learned about, you know, in my life.

I believe I knew the Lord but I was just running away from him and choosing to do wrong things. And he began to bring me back and, um, I literally found myself one morning after a drunken stupor at 16, um, waking up in a place I didn’t need to wake up in and just flat on my back and realizing this is as good as it gets when I’m in control.

This is as good as I can do. And, um, tears began to come down my faith—my face and I just—I realized at that moment that all the stories I had heard growing up as child, all the stuff about Jesus love it was more than just the faith to trust him to save me. This was a real God who loved me in that moment.

And, um, I accepted his grace at that moment and I—it wasn’t right then but a little while later I learned, you know, Psalm 40 versus one through three that are so specific about—you know “I waited and waited on the Lord. At last he looked and finally he listened and he heard my cry and he pulled me out of the pit of my reclay [phonetic] and he put my foot upon a rock and he gave me the God’s song to sing”. And I just—

You know he put a new song in my mouth, handle praise through our God, many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. And that has been my, um, life verse. You know I’m the lead singer for a new song but I didn’t really know that was their verse.

You know we come—I’m alone on the road somewhere and I see Billy Wright and Psalm 40, one through three and I was like, oh, that’s cool because that’s been my—that’s my testimony. It’s something David wrote, you know, about his life but it’s definitely something that I identify with because God pulled me out of some junk in life and definitely gave me a rock to stand on which is Jesus and he -

When God changed my life at that moment when I was in high school that’s when I began this. I didn’t sing really that much before than. So he gave me a God song to sing. Put a God song in my mouth and that has definitely made [unintelligible] with me.
