About Us
What’s this all about?
The purpose of this site is to collect and communicate real stories of how God is using the Bible to change lives.
The American Bible Society is collecting your stories in order to:
- share glimpses of what God is doing through the Bible to change lives;
- encourage people to engage the Scriptures; and
- develop an edifying online community of “Bible Advocates.”
At the core of the American Bible Society’s work is the belief that God speaks to every generation through the Holy Scriptures (Isaiah 55:10-11), bringing wisdom where there is confusion, faith where there is fear, hope where there is despair, and love where there is hatred.
We realize that some discussions can be very emotional or controversial, so we ask participants to be considerate when posting comments to another story. The American Bible Society serves all Christian denominations without doctrinal note or comment, and we’d like this to be an online community where people share with and sharpen one another as they pursue a deeper understanding and love for God and His Word.

What type of stories are you collecting?
Your Stories
“Your Stories” are the ones that you send us. We will edit them for clarity and flow, and if they’re too long, we’ll do our best to make them shorter without taking your “voice” or key points out of it.
ABS Stories
“ABS Stories” are actual letters or comments from one of our many strategic partnerships like Faith Comes by Hearing. This category also includes stories written by our ABS field staff during ABS Missions Trips.
Faith Comes by Hearing (www.fcbh.org) is a unique ABS partner organization; their cause is to provide scriptures around the world, in 2,000 languages, to those who cannot read. Given the fact that over 1/2 of the world’s population is illiterate this is an important ally for us in ministry. As such, many of their stories are available here as an audio podcast.
What is the American Bible Society?
From the American Bible Society’s founding in 1816, we have been focused on translation, publication and the distribution of Bibles to as many people as possible.
Our mission today is to make the Bible available to every person in a language and format each can understand and afford, so all people may experience its life-changing message.
Who’s behind ShareYourStoryNow?
Shareyourstorynow.org is developed and maintained by a small ABS team in Virginia: Scott, Jenn, Natasha, Brent, and Andy.
