“Spreading God's Word”
He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.
Bob O. writes:
I am presently a ministry student, at the age of 56. I read this verse while studying. To me, this verse means: When we continue to do God’s work, the way he wanted it to be done, his wondrous word will be spread throughout the lands.

Dear Bob O.:
Upon learning that you are “a ministry student,” I spontaneously responded: “Holy brethren, partaker of the heavenly calling” (Hebrew 3:1), and rejoice in the LORD our God, for “He has given you the autumn rains in righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains….” (Joel 2:23).
The imagery of the “mown grass,” is so apropos as I look out of the window.
It is truly a symbol of magnificence: As the mown meadow flourishes, as plants sprout, in abundant harvest, may we, too, grow, as you have confidently stated, with His “wondrous word…spread throughout the lands,” in faith, hope and love, and thus in abundance of peace.
Our Messiah may be likened to the gently-descending shower, under which the grass which has been mown springs up again with freshness and beauty. Let us be mindful of our mission on earth: “But I say to you, love you enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father Who is in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:44-45).
Thank you.
May the “showers of blessing” of our ALL MIGHTY GOD be with you;
GODSPEED with your ministry, always and forevermore!
Mary Sun.

And, Bob, the Word will be spread by people just like you, who care so much about the Word that we want everyone to know, and we all try to do what we can. I congratulate you for your academic efforts, too. I completed four online Bible study programs but I sure would like to go to seminary full time. I am a criminal trial atty in inner-city courts in Boston, and have the opportunity given to me by God to witness every day to folks who are more than just a little disadvantaged. Keep spreading the word. It is like throwing sunflower seeds into a garden and watering them now and then. Pretty soon fifty sprout up and you cannot keep up with it! Blessings to you, my friend.
