“The Power of Praying With My Husband”
I know, O LORD, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.
Abby, our program manager, writes:
Recently my husband and I were looking through some old journals that we each had when we were courting, and we started to tell each other what we were feeling at those exact moments and how badly we wanted to get married.
It felt like our wedding day would never come! Now looking back it makes both of us laugh, but at that time it was extremely frustrating.
I remember how much we prayed over our marriage and all the steps we had to take soon after (moving, buying a home, etc). It was probably the craziest time we have ever been through, but some how it all went smoothly and without a hitch.
The one thing we both agreed on that helped tremendously was prayer and diving head first into His Word. We sought His face and His will through it all.
We didn’t want to take a step without knowing that He wanted us to.
Now two years later we still make time every day, even if it is just 10 minutes here and there, to pray and read the Bible together. If he travels, or if I travel, we call each other and pray together.
Even with the bumps on the road, we know that God will guide us down that road and then some.

Abby, thanks for sharing such a sweet part of your story with your hubby.
From my own experience, I find it amazing how praying with others (family, friends, coworkers or even strangers) helps deepen and strengthen relational bonds.
Your story helped surface some very sweet (and powerful) memories for me … memories of praying with friends regularly and the sweet, sweet bonds that developed through that. So thanks for that gift, Abby!

Dear Abby, Program Manager:
Truly, “A man’s steps are directed by the LORD” (Proverbs 20:24), and we can understand His Way only by praying and asking Him to fill us with the knowledge of His Will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding (1 Thesalonian 3:11), and direct our hearts into the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ. (2 Thesalonians 3:5).
From my own humble experiences, God has called, and continues to call me to undertake roles and tasks I cannot accomplish on my own because of lack of vision, fear and every day concerns.
But when I am mindful that (Thus says the Lord) “It is I who made the earth, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands, and I ordained all their host…I have aroused him in righteousness. And I will direct all his ways…” (Isaiah 45:12-13), my complaint has been that there just are not enough hours in the day for me to accomplish my purpose and goal for the fulfilling joy of His calling.
Thank you anew for your inspiring mission.
May GOD ALL MIGHTY Bless you and yours, and your Team;
GODSPEED, always and forevermore!
Mary Sun.
