It's Still Painful and Sad

[Jesus speaking] “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

[Luke 12:34 NIV]

Corinne R. writes:

This morning I awoke with a sadness in my heart, as this is the day that I will be giving my daughter Olivia’s bed to my two little nieces.

The sadness is due to the fact that Olivia has not slept in her bed for four years. You see, Olivia passed away April 22, 2004. Since her passing, I have not been able to remove anything from her room.

When I found out that my little nieces needed a bed, I thought it would be nice to give Olivia’s bed to them. Yes, it is still very painful and sad to know that I will eventually have to put all of my daughter’s belongings away.

I decided to open my Bible and let God lead me to the words he wanted me to read. He led me to Luke 12:32-34: “Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

I knew after reading these verses that Olivia would always be with me, as these were material things. She no longer needs them, as our Lord is providing her with all that she needs, his love for her and the promise that we will all be reunited one day.

I know that my tears will come as I slowly pack my daughter’s room, but I also know that she is always with me. I feel her presence every day.

    Dear Corinne R.:

Your most beautiful and precious Princess Olivia is smiling upon you and assuring you that you have made her “bed” an “unfailing treasure in heaven” (Luke 12:33).

She knows first-hand that “a good man out of the good treasures of his heart brings forth what is good…for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart” (Luke 6:45); And the hymn “Jesus Priceless Treasure”: “…Yea, whatever we here must bear, Still in Thee lies purest pleasure, Jesus, priceless treasure!”

Your most beloved Olivia is proud that you are a blessing to those in need!

May GOD ALL MIGHTY Bless you and keep you; His Face Shines upon you and give you Peace, always and forevermore!

    Mary Sun.

Corinne, thanks so much for sharing. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to pack up Olivia’s room. I hope things went well regarding giving Olivia’s bed to your nieces.

May you enjoy Olivia’s presence as you slowly pack up her room.

    Blessings to you.

Dear Corrine, The first thing I notice is your beautiful smile and the spirit that it comes from. Your tender words of God’s peace and assurance came through your heartfelt testimony. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to have a child die, but you have encouraged me and others to believe that with God all things are truly possible. If God can heal the broken heart of this lost, then indeed He “is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think.” Thank God for sharing your heart with me. You will be in my prayers for continued healing and peace in abundance.
    Peace and Blessings,
    B. Michelle
