BRIAN HARDIN: The Daily Audio Bible is something that came out of my own need to deepen my relationship with the Lord. I’m a pastor’s son. I know all the right things to say.

I can definitely convince somebody I’m a Christian and I lived that way, not being a Christian for an awful long time in the Christian music industry.

So you know I prayed and asked the Lord how I can really make this real to me and I thought maybe the best thing to do would be read the Bible and context for what it really said instead of listening to sermons or—not that those are wrong but just to read it in context for what it actually said for myself.

And about the time that I got that idea I really felt impressed that I was supposed to do that in pod cast form, that there would be a lot of other people out there like me who are interested in the Bible, maybe had been hurt by the church, who were way up on technology and would enjoy something like this.

And so I started January 1st, 2006 and, uh, just before that I put the feet up, I learned about pod casting and how to do that and, um, I thought there’d be five people that would go through—you know through the year with me and that was what was my expectation. And there were about 200 people that started with me on the first of January and by May there were about 200,000 that had downloaded.

And now there’s been about four million and it completely wraps itself around the world and community forum. The second largest community as far as demographic goes besides the United States is actually China.

I think that there is a hunger for the Bible and its purest rawest form you know.
