For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

All of us have busy lives and the Lord knows that. I think that maybe the deeper question is, maybe there’s something wrong with the way that we’re doing it. My wife and I and our church we decided to do smaller portions so that we could concentrate on what the Lord’s saying. I think that’s a real key, because if the portion’s too large you’re trying to read you’ll just get through it and there’s no interaction with it. And that’s where the life is. The life is not just in reading it, the life is interacting with God’s Word. And it’s just like in relationships, if we just see each other and you never go deep, you never go past the surface, you never enjoy life and the heart of life then your relationships become shallow and you stop enjoying them because you never go deep.
And I think that’s the same way with God’s word. When you go deep in it, even if it’s just a few verses it’s amazing what you can read in 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes a day, you can do that on commercials on American Idol. You can find time to read God’s Word and it might correct what we watch on TV too if we did that. But we can find the time, it’s just I think we need to find ways to keep it life giving so that it doesn’t become dead [phonetic] ritual.
