“Finding Treasures in Darkness [3:27]”
Chris Thyberg, Associate Executive Director for American Bible Society, shares how sometimes God only gives us certain “treasures” when we are in the middle of “darkness”. He uses the example of his brother’s suicide and how while he grieved for a year, God revealed himself in a way he never could have done before.

Chris, thanks for sharing so vulnerably. I’m sorry about the loss of your brother. That must’ve been unbelievably hard.
That verse in Isaiah about finding treasures in darkness … that’s profound! And mysterious … and scary … and beautiful. And, according to my experiences, it’s very true.
Most of the time I wish darkness (and dark experiences) didn’t exist … but somehow God seems to use dark experiences to help me grow.
It’s a mystery to me … and I feel like I’m learning to trust God more with my dark experiences.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences and those verses from Isaiah. Blessings to you, Chris!
