“My Life Turned Around”
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
John G. writes:
There are many verses that have impacted my life in the last few years. Here’s a quick recap. About two years ago I was in a pretty deep depression, very overweight, my marriage was all but over and both cars had been repossessed. I had turned away from God, and my life was just one train wreck after another.
Then, through a series of events, God spoke to me, and I put my focus on God. My every waking moment was focused on God, and the things in my life began to turn around.
I have lost nearly 80 pounds and still going strong. My wife and I are like newlyweds. My children are very happy and doing great in school. I am even thinking about going to seminary to be a pastor.
What got me thinking of this was the people at church telling me I should do it and just that nagging feeling that I should. I have also found that the most liberating feeling you can get is to share your faith with someone.
I heard a statistic a while back. I do not know the source but it stated that out of all the people who say they are Christians, 95% have never shared their faith with someone. So I have made that my life mission. I try to share my faith with everyone I can. Have I been met with resistance? Oh yes, unfortunately, but I keep in mind that it’s not me they’re rejecting, it’s God … and they can just take it up with Him.
Now about that verse (at the top). Psalm 37:4 states, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
I was trying to figure out what God’s will was for my life and if what I was wanting to do (be a pastor) was the same thing that God wanted. Then I found that verse. I felt like I had won the lottery.
So that is my story and how much God has blessed me and my family. So to anyone reading this, share your faith. Tell someone how much Jesus Christ loves them.
May God bless you and keep you. Peace be with you.

Wow, John, I can feel your passion and excitement. Very cool. I’m inspired by your story … by how focusing on God helped turn around some things in your life. That’s powerful. I feel drawn toward contemplating that some more, especially in terms of my own life and focus.
Thanks for sharing, John! Blessings to you.

Dear John G.:
I admire your courage to admit that “you had turned away from God.” Even Jeremiah wondered if God had not deceived him (Jer. 15:18); similarly, Job questioned God in his affliction (Job 9:13-35).
I, who have experienced unceasingly God’s Salvation from Judgment by His grace and through faith feel at heart, truly, that God is my Savior through Jesus Chrisst our Lord. I depend on Him both for spiritual salvation and daily well being.
Thank you for your encouragement for me to continue sharing my faith and spread the Gospel of “how much Jesus Christ loves them.”
May GOD Bless you and your family, and
GODSPEED with your ministerial efforts, always and forevermore!
Mary Sun.

Thank you for the kind words.
When you break it right down it all goes back to the first commandment. “You shall have no other gods before me” If there is anything in your life you love for than God there is a trainwreck coming in your life.
In Revelation 2:4 in the lettr to the church in Ephesus, the verse reads that they had forsaken there first love. My wife, and my children are NOT my first love. I am not there first love. Jesus Christ is my first love and because of that the relationship with my wife and family has become so much more enriched that it could have even been without Christ in our lives.
Grace and Peace to your from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
