“The First Verse I Memorized”
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Pamela writes:
This was the first verse I ever memorized; I was 5 years old. I was born to one family, but God placed me in the home of another. In this home I learned how to read the Bible before I even knew my ABC’s. I am so thankful!

Dear Pamela:
What a profoundly beautiful story!
You have my highest respect and admiration.
At five, I was fortunate to be home schooled in a traditional Hong Kong home. The first two sentences I was taught in Chinese to memorize were: “In the beginning, human nature is good.”
This is sort of Buddhist philosophy.
It is, however, your above verse [John 3:16 NIV] which I learned at 16 in Christian high school there that I have found the everlasting faith, hope, love, peace and joy of redemption of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in life thereafter and here on earth.
My second home was war-torn Japan, where “I am so thankful” to have witnessed Almighty God’s unconditional salvation from human destruction of nuclear bombs for those who trust in Him.
May GOD ALL MIGHTY Bless you always and forevermore,
Mary Sun.
