God Has My Interest In Mind

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

[Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV]

Melissa K. writes:

MelissaJeremiah 29:11 states that God knows what he has for us. He knows why he does things in our lives even if we don’t. It’s funny how God works things out in our lives.

I am 19 and I attend Master’s Commission Atlanta, a ministry program, and I wasn’t planning to come a year ago. I was going to become a nanny, but God had my interest in mind.

When I was about to make the final plans for my nanny position, my youth pastor, who I was going to be a nanny for, told me that it wasn’t within God’s planning at the time. At first when I heard this, I was angry. I didn’t want to let him go.

He suggested that I go into Master’s locally. I had gotten a scholarship at the one I’m attending while at a youth conference last year. I didn’t actually think I’d be here.

But of course God had seen the bigger picture. I applied in March and got accepted. Things just fell into place after that.

In the back of my mind, through the waiting period last summer, I kept repeating Jeremiah 29:11. Last year at this time, I didn’t know I would be in a ministry school. God knew I would be here.

I’m learning and growing so much in my relationship with God, and I am growing as a leader. I would never be where I am right now if I didn’t know that God has my interest in mind. He knows everything I will do before I do it. Praise God!

Melissa, thanks for sharing. I think it was brave of you to apply for the ministry program, and it was brave of you to accept and begin attending! You took some big, courageous steps. Way to go. And it sounds like it has been good so far … sounds like you’re learning and growing. That’s beautiful.

Blessings to you as you continue in the program.
