“Navy Chaplain: Public Prayer (1:52)”
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
A former Navy Chaplain shares how he was not allowed to pray in public while in uniform. After being found guilty for praying outside the White House, the law was changed and now all military chaplains can pray in public.

Gordon, what can I say, I LOVE your COURAGE! Wow, it took some serious GUTS and CONVICTION to do what you did … to go against the Navy’s (former) prayer policy. You were willing to lose your job (and perhaps some relationships) by standing up for what you thought was unjust.
I’m slowly learning how to use my “voice” — to stand up for myself and what I think is just and loving. Your story inspires me. So thank you.
Blessings to you, Gordon.

So sad that this has even become an issue. I just wrote a piece for our local paper and studied the history of the Chaplaincy. Article II of the Naval Regulations, was for a Chaplain to be on every ship and services to be held. Where has America gone so wrong? Did you know that there were already 15 volunteer Chaplains in place when Col. George Washington assumed command of the Continental Army? Good job Chaplain Gordon and God Bless America!
