“Using Scripture to Soak in God’s Tenderness”
[Jesus speaking] “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Andy writes:
Are you tired? Hurting? Lonely? Scared? Confused? Are you open to allowing God’s tenderness to nurture you, heal you and give you rest?
Over the past few years I’ve discovered that the more I allow myself to soak in God’s tenderness, the more healing and transformation I experience. I’ve also discovered that Scripture helps me soak in God’s tenderness.
Are you open to taking one minute right now to soak in God’s healing tenderness? Join me in this very simple exercise - it’s just three steps.
STEP 1: Get in a comfortable position and take three really deep breaths.
STEP 2: Slowly read Jesus’ tender words in Matthew 11:28 (NIV):
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Read it again slowly, and let His words wash over you and sink into you.
STEP 3: Now imagine Jesus standing before you, with His arms opened to you. Let yourself be welcomed into His arms, letting Him hold you with tenderness. Feel His arms around you and let yourself be loved as if you were a small child in its father’s arms. Soak in Jesus’ tenderness as long as you’d like to.
I hope this simple exercise helps you experience God’s tenderness in an intimate and transformational way.
If you did try the exercise above, I’d love to hear how it was for you. I’d also love to hear which Bible passages help you to connect with - and soak in - God’s tenderness. Make your comments in the comment box below. I look forward to hearing from you!
