“A Reminder of God’s Grace”
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Genesis writes:
This is my life verse, and it’s a constant reminder to me of God’s grace.
After getting out of an abusive and dysfunctional marriage, I found myself with nothing. When I left my husband, I left with nothing but my car. I got the first job I could, working as an overnight stocker at Wal-Mart. I began saving for an apartment of my own.
Needless to say this was a very rough time in my life. There were many times that I can honestly say that without my faith in Christ I would have ended my life.
The thing is that in this verse it starts with “we know” - there is no room for doubt. It does not say “we think”; it says “we know.” Then it’s continued by “ALL things” - not some things, but ALL things.
With that said, I knew that my circumstances, even living in my car, would work to good because I love God and I am called by Him. It was tough and it hurt, but God brought me through it.
I have an incredible career now and a beautiful home that I rent (which I praise God for) - and my life is truly a testament to the truth in God’s Word throughout the Bible. My life points to the validity of this verse that I held in my heart during the cold nights on the street. You see “all things did work together for good, for me who loves God, and is called according to His purpose.”
I wonder if one of His purposes for that time in my life is to touch someone who is reading this right now. May God bless you in all you do.

You know, Genesis, when I read in your post that you were working third shift at Wal-Mart, the first thing I thought of was Paul telling his friends in Philippi how pumped he was that his getting thrown into prison had resulted in a great (and otherwise unavailable) opportunity to tell the imperial guards about Jesus, and had also encouraged others to share their faith more boldly. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman!) “Third shift” is a mysterious world that most of us never see. I always wonder about the folks who keep the world running while the rest of us sleep. Anyway, I realize this isn’t really what your post was about, but such are the musings of my mind on a rainy Thursday when I should be doing other work.

God Bless you for sharing your trial! Your story has truly helped me during the trial that I am currently going through!
