I am creating something new. There it is! Do you see it? I have put roads in deserts, streams in thirsty lands.
[Isaiah 43:19 CEV]
During GMA week in Nashville, TN, our team interviewed Singer Songwriter, Don Moen. In this video, Don shares about his favorite passage in Isaiah, and how this verse inspired one of his songs after the tragic death of his nephew.

DON MOEN: Probably that would be Isaiah 43:19, I mean a lot of times when I sign something I’ll put Isaiah 43:19. It says, “Behold, I will do something new, and now it will spring forth. I will make a roadway in the wilderness and a river in the desert.” I think that’s a verse that brings hope to a lot of people because they’ve got to believe that there’s a way out from what they’re going through and what they see all around them, to know that God is able to cause something new to happen, it should bring hope. To believe that he can make a roadway in the wilderness, a river in the desert, do things that are impossible with us, but with God all things are possible. So it’s a verse that I think has brought hope to a lot of people and certainly brings hope to me. It’s also a very personal scripture to me.
I wrote a song called “God will make a way” when my nephew was killed in a car accident, and didn’t know what to say to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law during this time, and all the scriptures that came to my mind seemed to fall short of what I wanted to say. I got an airplane to fly the next day and I was going to sing something at the funeral, and I sat in the airplane reading from Isaiah 43, and in fact the whole chapter that I got to, that God’s going to make a roadway in the wilderness and a river in the desert.
And I wrote a song on the airplane called “God will make a way”. Where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see. He’ll make a way for me. And the middle of the song says, By a roadway in the wilderness he’ll lead me. Rivers in the desert will I see. Heaven and Earth will fade, but his word will still remain and he will do something new today. So it is a word of hope, and it’s so easy to say to people today, “Have faith, have faith.” Well, it’s hard to have faith if you’ve lost hope, and I think that’s what the word of God does, especially that scripture, it brings hope to those who are in a hopeless situation.

Congratulations on this first story! Mr. Moen’s song “God will make a way” has been a favorite of mine for years and has helped me to focus on the God that is above every circumstance and obstacle I face. I’m looking forward to your future stories.
