“Jesus called me to “die to self””

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Jesus knows that we as humans who are full of sin from the day we are born into this world, sometimes place too high an esteem on certain areas of our lives. Some of us are workaholics, some of us are shopaholics, and some of us are tv-aholics. So knowing this, He calls us to die to self by nailing those areas of our lives to the cross, and by doing so we are resurrected with him in righteousness and holiness. We then, by his mercy and grace become one with him and focus our time and energies towards producing good works to further the kingdom of heaven in his name.

The impact it has on me is that, even though I am a sinner a surely deserve to die and spend eternity without him, God humbled himself by becoming a man and giving his life freely, so that I may have eternal life in him.

Almost two years ago I became disabled through an accident at work. I not only herniated one disk but ruptured and herniated all of the lumbar disks in my back. I had just recently rededicated my life back to the Lord and I know now that God allowed this trial to strengthen my faith. The road wasn’t easy but as he continued working in me, the wisdom and understanding of the Lord and his purpose for my life became all so clear. With daily humility and reverent fear of God, I share the message of the Good News with all who will hear and listen.

My faith and strength is in Christ Jesus and I walk daily according to his will by the dying of self and the revelations of what the Holy Spirit has in store for me and my family. I thank him every day for the gift of seeing my childhood dream occupation being realized, by trusting in him and remaining faithful to his promises.
