“Eliminating careless words”
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
Jeff M writes:
Before I became a Christian (1983), I used to curse like the proverbial sailor. A friend at the time, who was studying the Bible, brought this scripture to my attention. As an unsaved person, I was already beginning to question my behavior, but had not thought about my speech.
Eventually, cursing became like gravel in my mouth, and I decided to experiment to see how long I could go without speaking such things. I found it to be quite refreshing, and not long after, I gave my heart totally to the Lord.
Now I think about all the other mindless conversation that seems to dominate our lives even without the use of foul language. As Christians, we should be giving ourselves to sharing God’s word with one another, and with those who are not saved.

thanks for your story. Another great verse to consider would be Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

That’s such a great passage and story. I’m definitely taking that one with me.

Praise God for all that He has done (and IS doing) in your life. Oh, how He loves you.
Thanks for your testimony of what The LORD Jesus has done for you.
