Financial burden made me angry at God

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

[Lamentations 3:22 KJV]

Keri writes

Like many people in today’s world I am quite often plagued by financial issues. But I reached the peak of my plight one night when I could see no way out of my difficulty. I couldn’t help reflecting on the fact that I was working so hard and claimed to have a heavenly father.

In anger and frustration I hurled accusations at my Heavenly Father, whom I thought had neglected me. In fact, I felt He had abandoned me. How or why should a child of the mighty King be broke? I couldn’t hold my tongue as I lashed him with words of steel. But then something happened.

Something stopped my flow of angry words. Suddenly, I felt like I had company; then, a soft loving voice said Lamentations 3. I quickly grabbed my Bible and proceeded to read. At first I thought it was my mind as I could find no words of comfort. But, as I was about to dismiss this voice as my mind, verse 22 caught my eye. It spoke boldly to me: “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed”. I was dumbfounded by this stern yet loving reminder from My God that he was the one who was keeping me all this time, even through the bad times. Through my tears, I realized that it spoke of an understanding of a God who never fails his children even when things seem unbearable.

From that day, I have learnt to lean on the God of Jacob and the many Israelites, the God of my country Jamaica. I have learnt a valuable from God that He will always be there for me. Whenever things seem hopeless I just remember the words of Lamentations 3:22, that His mercies are new every morning.

I needed this scripture today: Lam 3:22 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

Last night, I rear-ended another car when I became distracted. I totaled my car and the other driver’s car. The only injury was to the other driver’s arm (maybe broken). I have been stressing today over this. When I read your story (I also have financial issues), the Lamentations scripture was a great comfort to me. Thank you Lord.

Thanks both of you for that passage! I’m in the middle of trying to sell my home, coordinating my church’s 10th anniversary celebration, and preparing for my wedding in May. . .I have a tendency to get overwhelmed w/ details and worry about things that are out of my hands.

But thanks God, literally, that his mercies are new every morning! Great is his faithfulness. :)
