“What is a Spiritual Body?”
So also is the resurrection of the dead It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
Allan W writes:
The words kept going around in my head, “A spiritual body, a spiritual body…” I’ve always believed when we die we go to heaven, but I didn’t know how. After reading this scripture, pieces of the puzzle of life began to fall into place.
God helped me realize that my previous idea of life after death was wrong. I thought when we died we kept the same body, but it somehow floated from one place in heaven to another; that we were somewhat like angels, that is, we could whisk about heaven as if we had wings.
Maybe some of those things will happen after all, however, the spiritual body is going to be spirit and not like my body now. As I understand Paul’s meaning here, we will be like God, in the sense that He is a Spirit. We, if we have been born of His Spirit,as Jesus taught, will exist as He exists.
Since we were originally made in God’s Image and Likeness (Genesis 1:26-27) we will be in the state we were meant to be, spirit. Now, I can barely read the scriptures without seeing the connection each verse has to spirit life.
