Christian Evanglism: Planting a seed

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

[Acts 8:37 KJV]

Jonathan J. writes:

By the time I was 15 years of age, I had tried to commit suicide twice and had ran away once. There was no peace in my life. My step-father was a drunk; my mother worked two jobs because he didn’t work. One day, he stuck a gun to my mother’s head and threatened to kill her. I jumped in, grabbed the gun and hid it from my dad. He then started coming after me and I took out the door.

That night in October I stayed awake in the Indianapolis Greyhound Bus Station looking for a way to get money somehow. A gentleman stepped in and tried to witness to me, but I ignored his efforts and just stuck the tract in my front pocket. Later that night I was getting bored. I leaned up against the wall and put my hands in my pockets. “What is that?” I questioned myself. “Is that a dollar?” I pulled it out and it was that tract. With nothing else to do, I read the tract and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I went home that night and even though I had a dead stare from my step-father, I had open arms from my mother. My father has now accepted Jesus Christ and is in heaven, and the rest of my family are saved also. I am now married, a preacher, and have one child whom I will raise in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. If the guy who gave me that tract reads this, I want to say “thank-you”.

  1. Jons says:

    Dear Jonathan,
How wonderful are the ways the Lord works. I also despaired of my life in my adolescent years; I tried to end it many times too. I received the Lord some 25 years later, after a time of turbulent, sinful life. After He took my mother home some 20 years, He transformed my mourning into joy; the joy and the peace of walking with Him a little closer, and much more steadfastly.

May the Lord bless your ministry and be gracious to you and your family! May you always abide in Him, and His Spirit abide in you!
