“Working for Harsh Employers”
Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
Craig S. writes:
I was employed by an agency which, to say it was “difficult” to work for was an understatement. I worked well with everyone but I just couldn’t get through to my supervisors. I asked God, “Why am I here?” Then 1 Peter 2:18 was revealed to me through an awesome book, “Under Cover.”
I now know the purpose; I was meant to learn how to be obedient and submissive to those in authority over me, even when they are “harsh” or difficult. Even though I had read this verse before and even preached on it, I never related it to my attitude, nor did I consider that I was being disobedient to God. What an eye opener! I begin to thank God for the experience and, though it hurt, tried to stay open to the opportunity for molding. God has finaly relased me from that job and I am now thankful for having that experience in my backpack of maturity in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5: 14 -15 My friends we beg you to warn anyone who is not living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone. Don’t be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else.
Same thought in these verses but I wonder if God placed you in tough circumstances because you are strong and He could act through you to encourage others. I hear you on the obedience to authority issue - that’s a tough one to sort out at times.

The LORD Jesus by The Holy Ghost will teach us and show us how to work under harsh and unsaved bosses for none of us have it in our flesh to be graciously obedient to such.
