Praying for the Impossible: Don’t give up!

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

[Psalm 37:4-5 KJV]

Rachel K. writes:

From major back surgery in 2005, to playing Pee Wee Football in 2006: when you have a dream, never give up on it; take it to God and ask for His help. My son Jacob’s orthopedic doctor released him in four months instead of the normal six months, then ten months after surgery, he was able to play football. With some encouraging words from other people, Jacob approached my husband and I, asking whether he could play.

Jacob would be the first to tell anyone that God does give you your heart’s desire. Several times before, during and after Jacob’s surgery, my husband and I would have to remind Jacob that as parents, all we could do was pray for him; it wasn’t in our power to make him able to play football. I said to Jacob that if football was what he wanted for himself, to pray and ask God for it.

After surgery, Psalm 37:4-5 was very significant. As a witness to what has happened to Jacob, it makes me aware of what an awesome and wonderful God we have! God is able to take the impossible and turn it around to make it possible. Si would like to thank and praise Go for giving my son his heart’s desire and also for keeping my two sons safe while playing this season. God will do the same for anyone – all you have to do is ask.

Please take John 11:40 and keep it ever in your heart. It is a gift to God’s children from The LORD Jesus Himself.

Please pray for our 20 year marriage. My husband filed for divorce after 22 years together. We have 3 children together and I am lost and devastated without him. I have been trying to talk to him to work on our marriage and he is disconnected and doesn’t seem to care to make things better. Please help me pray for him to try and stop our divorce. I love him so much and my family means everything to me. I pray that God will open his heart and reconcile with me. Thank you for your support and prayers.

27 yr marriage appears to be over. My beautiful wife has come to believe that marrying me was a mistake, even “disobedience”. She says today that she doesn’t now and never did love me. She believes that God is telling her to divorce me. No amount of discussion or counsel has been able to reach her heart. No infidelity on my part drives this. She just believes that God is more concerned about her “happiness” than her obedience to His Word or loyalty to her covenant. Our four children are devastated. She is actively seeking extramarital relationships while still married. I have all of the past year praying, fasting and counseling, making every desparate effort to avoid this disaster. I love my wife with my whole heart and do not desire this divorce. Please pray that God reaches her heart with the light of truth, love and compassion. I desire, with my entire being, to see Him reconcile and restore my marriage, family, and home. My family is my life and they mean everything to me. I know that Jesus must be the core of my universe, and I must follow Him no matter what, even if it means moving on without her. But my heart is crushed and my spirit broken. I don’t know how to go forward.
