““God Does Keep His Promises””
This summer, the American Bible Society donated 7,000 Youth Bibles to Scripture Union’s SuperKids mission program, an effort to reach at-risk urban kids with the Good News and God’s Word. In various cities in the United States, Scripture Union conducts week-long programs of creative Bible engagement activities and then at the conclusion distributes the Bibles to the children, parents and care-givers who attend.
In one SuperKids program in Chester, PA, an SU volunteer gave a Bible to one little boy who excitedly said, “God does keep his promises!” The volunteer asked what he meant and the boy explained that his mother had promised to buy him a Bible last Christmas but was unable to do so because she didn’t have enough money. At the time, she simply told her son, “Somehow, God will provide.” So when he received the Youth Bible at Scripture Union’s SuperKids mission, it was an answer to his and his mother’s prayers.
