“Prayer Works: A bone marrow donor for my child”

God cured my son of a fatal illness. In October 2005 my eldest son Joshua, then 15, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. This meant that his bone marrow no longer worked. He could not make red blood cells to keep him going. He could not make platelets which are responsible for clotting your blood, and he had absolutely no white blood cells to fight infection. I knew from the moment i found out about my son’s illness that God already had his hand in his treatment. The reason I knew was because his doctors name was Dr. Lazarus. The conventional treatment was not working so the decision was a bone marrow transplant. In December the doctors put Joshua on the donor list. The odds of finding a good enough match were astronomical. I called my Pastor and a prayer chain was started. Within 2 months, a perfect match was found! The donor said yes and in march of 2006 my son had his bone marrow transplant. The doctors told us it would take 4 to 6 weeks to see results. We prayed so hard that this would work. It only took 2 weeks. The bone marrow was working! On July 3rd, 2006 my son was declared cured from aplastic anemia. I made a promise to God that if my son was saved, I would make sure that my son would some day do the Lord’s work. And that is a promise that i will spend my life making sure Joshua knows it was The Lord who saved him. I pray that God blesses my son’s donor with many blessings. And i can’t wait to meet the donor next year….prayer works!
