As a Christian parent it is natural to wish the best for our children and to see them have a lifestyle that promotes the more important values. In our world, there is always the threat that our ‘children’ (note that they become adults) will go contrary to the godly values that have stood the test of time and what we believe will give them the best chance of worthy and successful lives.
With that in mind, my wife and I were thrilled to receive the special promise in John 10:29 that speaks about those who were given to Jesus, no person can snatch away from Him. We deliberately gave each of our six children to Him and claimed this promise for them.
God further reminded us that we as parents also have our special part to play in making the love of Jesus known to our family each day. We realized that this promise was a partnership with God. This is just so great and we now delight in seeing our ‘children’, and now their children, owning the values that are eternal.
